  • drow clan
  • abducted and enslaved by illithids
  • trained to tasks as army

Priest

  • human priest of Helm enslaved
  • despite illithids many attempts he never gave up
  • they could control him
  • but not make him give up
  • he could even resist them for a while
  • the drows could not understand this
  • and he talked to them
  • as if they where free beings
  • with their own minds
  • he could sooth them when they where not being controlled
  • and could free them for small times
  • tell tales about freedom
  • about how Helm protected him against the illithids
  • but that he was still mortal
  • this sparkedthe first seeds for freedom

Break

  • Illithids tired of this human aggitating their slaves
  • and killed him
  • but in his last act
  • he took down the closest illithids with him
  • in a blast of divine energy
  • shouting the name of Helm
  • in front of the drow
  • through the illithids shock
  • the drow saw that the mind flayers could be killed
  • and attacked them and killed many in a matter of seconds
  • the remaining illithids couldn't control so many drow and fled
  • the drow brought the priests holy symbol with them
  • as a symbol of their freedom

Escape

  • Realizing that they couldn't resist if the rest of the illithids caught them
  • they fled through a portal
  • into a new world
  • underground
  • they crashed the rocks around the portal
  • and fled away from it as far as they could manage

Settlers

  • Judging it far enough
  • they selected a spot
  • and started making a settlement
  • having no other culture anylonger
  • they based it somewhat on what they learned from the illithids
  • combined with religion
  • a few number of the old drow still held on to worship of Lolth
  • but most of the younger members started worshipping helm as their saviour
  • survival forced these two groups to cooperate
  • weak alliance
  • low on numbers they took slaves from nearby races to work and fill out the workers
  • conflict between Lolth and Helm
  • helmites insist on treating slaves well
  • lolthians realized after their own imprisonment they would become to unpopular if they resisted
  • lolthians plotting to eventually take control
  • and bring the blasphemers back to Lolth

Present

  • survival is mostly guaranteed
  • they number some 100 drow left
  • and have some 20 slaves
  • about 20 drows are lolth worshippers
  • rest 80 is helmites
  • they survive on fungus, fish and a bit of herd animals
  • about 50 drow are active combatants
  • scout and patrol areas around their new home
  • drow as a group is slowly changing towards a NE/LE society
  • with a strong dislike on cruel slavery
  • they have recently discovered more races at the edge of their patrols
  • and sent a group to scout this out
  • and discovered the kobolds and hobgoblins of the sunless citadel
  • though they haven't discovered the drow yet
  • they sent in a scout to discover some more
  • but she got unlucky and spotted by the hobgoblins
  • and took her prisoner
  • trying to learn more
