Frequently Asked Questions

/home/omf2097/

I see no need to create or write down an entire FAQ here, as there are already some very good ones out there. But I will put links down for all the FAQ's and guides I know of so they are easy to find.

Also, any questions not answered in these FAQ's and guides email me, and I shall try to answer, or find an answer as good as I can. I cant promise miracles, but I will try.

Source Code

One of the most popular questions about OMF2097 is about the source-code. So I thought I'd quote a bit from Rob Elam himself, back from 2007:

Epic owns publishing rights to the title, not the IP or the source.
Well, it's pretty much because I choose not to. It'd take some time to dig up the backups and what not, but mostly I just think it's something that wouldn't do anyone any good, and wouldn't be worth my time (even though that time wouldn't be much). Not trying to offend anyone that'd be interested in working with it, but it's just so old, and most users can't get DOS stuff to run properly these days, I just think it's fairly pointless. Even if there are a few people that are interested in working with it and have a genuine desire to do something with it, I doubt any of them would actually finish doing anything with it (I personally think anyone with the capability to do anything significant with it would be crazy to waste their time on it).
I am actually considering releasing the OMF:BG code and possibly the assets to the public, however. I’m not making any guarantees on when/if that’d happen, but it’s something I think could produce some fun stuff. I’d really like to see someone do a 2D version of the game with the OMF:BG assets, that could be a fun project for a fighting game fan. Or a Streets of Rage type of game in 3D, that could be cool too.
